Perinatal & Post-Cesarean RMT

Perinatal massage supports your changing body through pregnancy and after birth, while post-cesarean treatment gently addresses scar tissue, tension, and discomfort to aid recovery and improve mobility. Each session is adapted to your needs, helping you reconnect with your body during this transition.

Perinatal massage is designed to support your body through the  changes of pregnancy, easing common discomforts like back pain, ligament pain, swelling, and muscle tension. For those recovering from a cesarean, specialized post-cesarean treatment focuses on gentle scar tissue mobilization, reducing adhesions, and relieving tension in the abdominal and pelvic areas to promote healing and improve mobility. Each session is personalized to your unique stage and needs, providing safe, gentle and effective care to help you feel more comfortable and connected to your body. Whether you’re expecting or healing postpartum, these treatments aim to support your well-being every step of the way.

Common questions I get about pregancy massage:

Is it safe to massage the ankles?

Yes. The belief that ankle massage can induce labor is rooted in reflexology practices, which suggest that specific points on the feet correspond to various organs and systems in the body. In particular, the "uterus point" near the inner ankle is often targeted with the aim of stimulating uterine contractions. While some studies have explored the effects of foot reflexology during labor, the evidence remains inconclusive.

Can I lay face down for these appointments?

Yes! I have pregnancy bolsters that allow for comfortable prone positioning. As always, it's up to you. Many patients love being able to lay face down but I will always support whatever feels best for your body. If you find laying face-down uncomfortable, treatments can be altered to a side-lying position with plenty of pillows to have you feeling comfortable and relaxed.

How soon after a C-Section can I see an RMT?

There is no waiting period for seeing an RMT after your C-Section. For the first month, we will work on things like decreasing swelling, fluid retention, muscle soreness, compensatory issues, and relaxing the nervous system. Once your scar is fully unionized (4 weeks), we can begin gentle direct scar work to the area and surrounding tissues.

Can I receive C-Section treatment even if my scar is several years old?

Absolutely! Scar work and adhesions can be addressed weeks, months, or years after your initial surgery.
